“In 2020, US courts delivered a series of important rulings in the field of copyright law. This article provides a summary of some of the most significant judgments issued from 1 January through 31 December 2020, and in some instances in January 2021. These cases addressed states’ rights, embedded links and photographs, and street art (including graffiti and mural art) within the context of US copyright law. Two significant US Supreme Court copyright cases in 2020 addressed states’ rights. In particular, the US Supreme Court examined whether the doctrine of state sovereign immunity applies in the context of US copyright lawsuits and whether US state codes are copyrightable under US copyright law …”
