ABSTRACT
The fourth Industrial Revolution ie the exponential advancement of technology is rapidly shaping the way we live, interact and relate to one another. Few of such technologies are Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Augmented and Virtual Reality, and Blockchain. Unfortunately, the law, more often than not, fails to keep pace with the technological advancements resulting in legal lacunae. In this paper, the author seeks to answer one such lacuna ie who is the author of a work produced by Artificial Intelligence? In Part I of the paper, the author examines whether such work falls under the Indian copyright law. Part II of this paper will discuss the various plausible authors of such work and the paper finally concludes by emphasising the importance of an amendment to the existing copyright framework resolving this issue.
