INTRODUCTION
Consider three situations. In one, I read a newspaper article that contains some personal details about an individual, perhaps mentioning their illness, some aspect of their family life, or their involvement in a controversial activity. In another situation, I check a person’s LinkedIn page for information about their recent work activities. In a third, I look at their Instagram to see how cool I think they are and whether their style might speak to current fashions. All three of these activities take place in a work context – either I am an academic researcher, doing background research for something I want to write or checking out people for a workshop I might organize, or I am in some other business, perhaps financial analysis or media, which might require me to stay in touch with the activities and successes of certain individuals …
