Brian Frye, ‘The Artist’s Posthumous License’

ABSTRACT
When artists die, they are remembered by their work. But copyright often makes their work unavailable. There are many ways to solve the problem, but the existing methods are suboptimal. This essay provides an alternative way for artists to ensure that their works remain available to the public after their death, via the Artist’s Posthumous License.
