INTRODCUTION
The Rules of Procedure of the General Court comprise a specific section dedicated to proceedings relating to IP rights (Title IV – Articles 171-191). These provisions are applicable to actions brought against decisions of the Boards of Appeal of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) concerning the application of the EU IP regime.
These cases are allocated to the six Chambers specifically designated by the General Court of the EU (General Court) to that effect. Each one of these Chambers is composed of five or six Judges. Consequently, in practice, IP cases are dealt with by 32 Judges in total, sitting in three-Judge or five-Judge formations.
